Asif Qureshi was reportedly attacked with sharp weapons during the argument and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi’s cousin Asif Qureshi, 42, was allegedly murdered on Thursday night in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area following dispute over a parking space, reports said.
The Delhi police have arrested two men in connection with the murder, reported PTI.
Around 10 pm on Thursday, Asif asked a man not to park a two-wheeler in front of the main entrance of his home, the report said citing police. The dispute quickly escalated after which, Asif was attacked with a sharp “poker-type” weapon.
During the attack, Asif sustained a grievous injury to his chest was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
Those arrested have been identified as Ujjwal (19) and Gautam (18). Bothe of them lived just a few metres away Asif’s residence, the police said.
What Asif’s family said
Asif ran a chicken business in the national capital and is survived by his two wives.
Describing what happened on Thursday night, Shaheen, one of Asif’s wives said, “At around 9:30-10 pm, a neighbour parked a scooter right outside our house…My husband, Asif, requested him to move the vehicle away. The man abused Asif and threatened to come back,” NDTV reported.
“Within minutes the man, along with his brother, came and stabbed Asif with a sharp weapon. I called Javed, my brother-in-law but by the time he reached, Asif had lost a lot of blood and died,” Shaheen added.
Describing the incident, Huma Qureshi’s father and Asif’s uncle Saleem Qureshi said, “Two men parked a scooter in front of the house. Asif asked them to move it aside and not block the entrance. This led to a verbal altercation that turned physical. They were two, together they killed my nephew.”
Actor Huma Qureshi has not issued a statement regarding the incident yet.
The Delhi Police have registered a case under sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and further investigation is going on. Asif’s body has been sent for post-mortem.
