Delhi-NCR residents woke up to more rain showers on Monday morning. With light showers expected to continue throughout the day, IndiGo, Air India and other airlines have warned of potential flight delays and traffic snarls.

As per the latest forecast from the IMD, Delhi is expected to witness light rain and drizzle. Meanwhile, a yellow alert stays active for Gautam Buddha Nagar in UP and Gurugram in Haryana.

Airlines warns of flight delays, issue advisories

Owing the the weekend rain spell and Monday morning showers, several airlines have issued a travel advisory for their passengers.

“Due to bad weather (heavy rain) in Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may be affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status,” the SpiceJet stated on X.

IndiGo, and Air India also followed suit and issued advisories for their flyers on Monday.

“Rain may impact flight operations to and from Delhi today. Please check your flight status before heading to the airport,” wrote Air India on X.

meanwhile, IndiGo asked its passengers to opt for alternate routes due to the downpour in the capital. “Due to today’s downpour, several roads across Delhi are currently blocked or experiencing slow movement. Please allow extra time, take an alternate route if possible, and check your flight status on our website or app before leaving for the airport,” the airline wrote on X.

Rain continues to lash Delhi

On Sunday, traffic snarls and waterlogging woes surfaced after heavy rain lashed over Delhi-NCR.

As per IMD, rain was reported in areas including Preet Vihar, Rajeev Chowk, ITO, Jafarpur, India Gate, Akshardham, Safdarjung, and Lodi Road. Nehru Stadium, Defence Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Kalkaji, Ayanagar and Deramandi also logged rainfall on Sunday.

Meanwhile, last, a red alert for issued for the capital region after heavy rain lashed Delhi-NCR, accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms.

The warning was issued at 5:11 PM on Saturday and was valid until 8:11 PM. Authorities advised residents to stay indoors and avoid low-lying or waterlogged areas.
