New Google AI model, Nano Banana 2, is creating buzz online as users share surprising and realistic AI-generated images from early tests.
Google Nano Banana 2: Google’s latest AI image generator, Nano Banana 2, has quickly become a viral topic across social media platforms. Within just a few days, the updated version of Google’s image generation tool has taken social media by storm by producing realistic and often unexpected visuals that users can’t stop sharing.
Google had earlier revealed that the unusual name “Nano Banana” began as an internal placeholder before becoming a viral hit. The company decided to keep the name after users continued using it even before the official launch. Now, the sequel, Nano Banana 2, appears to be following the same viral path.

Nano Banana 2: Features and Launch Timeline (Expected)
According to reports from Testing Catalog, the upgraded model may debut this week with support for 2K resolution, flexible aspect ratios, and better text accuracy in generated images. The new version is also said to offer improved colour precision and more control over image angles. These upgrades aim to resolve some of the limitations noticed in the earlier Nano Banana release.
It is still unclear which underlying model powers Nano Banana 2. It could be based on Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash or potentially the upcoming Gemini 3.0 Pro. Another possible foundation is the Imagen 4 model. Internally, Google is said to refer to this project as Gempix 2, with potential plans for additional versions, including a Nano Banana Pro variant.

What sets Nano Banana 2 apart is its reported “multi-step generation process.” The AI doesn’t just create an image instantly; it plans the output, generates a draft, reviews it using built-in analysis, corrects detected errors, and refines the result before showing the final image. This layered approach could mark a major shift in AI image generation quality.

The Nano Banana 2 is incredible! It successfully maintained the character’s full consistency, including her hair and accessories. The prompt was very simple; I just asked to turn her around, and the result is on the right. pic.twitter.com/l6ys2QHGfI
