Tesla CEO Elon Musk has criticized Apple’s partnership with OpenAI, threatening to ban Apple devices at Tesla, Starlink, SpaceX, and other companies he owns. When an X user tweeted about X partnering with Samsung to develop an X-branded phone, Musk replied that it could be a possibility.
“Calling it now. X will partner with Samsung to manufacture an X phone…X OS will be open source to assure user privacy is protected,” a user tweeted on X.
Elon Musk slams ChatGPT integration on Apple devices
At the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) event this week, Apple announced it will integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT with iPhones and other devices with upcoming software updates. Musk lambasted Apple for partnering with OpenAI calling it an “unacceptable security violation”.
He warned Apple users that the company is “selling you down the river”.
“It’s patently absurd that Apple isn’t smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy! Apple has no clue what’s actually going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI. They’re selling you down the river.”

In another post, Musk also threatened to ban iPhones from all his companies. He also stated that “visitors will have to check their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage”.

It is interesting to note that Musk is criticizing Apple’s deal with OpenAI – the company that he once co-founded with Sam Altman and others in 2015. He stepped down from OpenAI’s board in 2018 and since then has been a vocal critic of the company.
