Reliance Jio has introduced a “5.5G” network in India, enhancing its 5G services with download speeds up to 10 Gbps, upload speeds of 1 Gbps.
During the launch event, Jio demonstrated speeds exceeding 1,014 Mbps.
Designed to provide lower latency, faster downloads, and better 4K streaming, the 5.5G network utilizes carrier aggregation technology to connect devices to multiple towers for improved data transfer and call quality.
Initially, the OnePlus 13 series smartphones will support this network, with a “5GA” icon displayed on connected devices.
Built on the 3GPP Release 18 standard, the new network aims to deliver higher data speeds and enhanced connectivity.
