Sikandar advance bookings have opened and the ticket prices for the Salman Khan film are already touching astronomical amounts.
Sikandar ticket prices surge to over ₹2000
The advance booking for the Salman Khan film opened on Thursday. Booking website BookMyShow opened advance booking for almost all theatres in the country by Thursday evening. Plaza Cinema in Mumbai’s Dadar has tickets priced as high as ₹700 for recliner seats in the evening shows. This is uncharacteristically high for a single-screen theatre, even in Mumbai. While some have seen this as a sign of high ticket demand, others in the industry are worried that it will drive audiences away. Single-screen theatres are usually for the mass audience, who prefer low ticket prices. However, this may be an aberration as most single screens in other parts – including Delhi’s Delite – have tickets priced between ₹90-200.
Multiplexes have already used blockbuster pricing for their premium tickets. Multiplexes in Mumbai are selling ‘director’s cut’ or ‘luxe’ tickets for as high as ₹2200. In Delhi, these prices are between ₹1600 and1900. Despite such high prices, the amazing part is that many screens are already sold out in Delhi-NCR. Even the prices for normal multiplex seats are as high as ₹850-900 in many theatres in the big cities.
Sikandar advance booking numbers
Sikandar has taken a strong start in terms of advance booking, grossing just under ₹4 crore in the first 24 hours. With two full days to go for the release, the number will likely go much higher. And as with any Salman Khan film, Sikandar will see a lot of spot booking in smaller centres, driving its day one collection up. As things currently stand, the film looks set for a strong opening.
Directed by AR Murugadoss, Sikandar also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, and Sathyaraj. The film is releasing worldwide on March 30.
