Vessel Protect appoints James Kent as Senior Business Development Underwriter

Vessel Protect, a specialist war risk underwriter and part of Pen Underwriting is enhancing its marine capabilities with the appointment of industry veteran James Kent as Senior Business Development Underwriter.

Chris Goddard, Co-Managing Director of Marine at Pen Underwriting and CEO of Vessel Protect, expresses his enthusiasm for Kent’s appointment, stating, “James will be a fantastic asset to our fast-growing business with his broad range of marine experience and diverse skill set, as we look to continue our strong growth trajectory while collaborating effectively with and supporting Pen’s wider marine specialisms.”

He adds, “Our entire proposition is based on delivering exceptional service to brokers and their clients who are navigating dynamic situations and extremely challenging environments every day. James’ breadth of industry connections and the ‘client lens’ he brings will be invaluable in ensuring this remains first-class as the business expands and looks to diversify – as will his track record of partnership working and delivering all-around great service himself.”

“We very much look forward to welcoming James into Vessel Protect and the wider Pen family,” Kent concludes.

With over 20 years of experience in the marine insurance industry, Kent brings extensive expertise to his new role.

He joins Vessel Protect from Lockton Omni, where he served as Business Development Manager & Group Representative for five years.

Prior to that, Kent held various underwriting roles, ranging from fixed P&I to senior underwriter level, at firms such as Thomas Miller Specialty/Navigators Insurance Company, Lodestar Marine, and British Marine.
